Show Day Socks by Down the Yarn Hole Designs
This sock is perfect for those who are new to lacework and looking to expand their skill set as well as those intermediate and advanced with lace and looking for an easy flowing pattern. The pattern is made up of a simple knit/purl & lace combination repeat that runs down the leg and onto the foot creating a stunning pattern framing the foot.
The pattern also features the DTYH signature size panel along each side of the instep allowing for easy customization. The size panel is made up of purl or twist stitches worked to form the rungs, against a plain background, and is known in gansey and clan design as the Ladder of Life, symbolizing Health and Happiness.
When designing for a yarn feature I try to capture the dyers yarn story within the pattern. As we all love a day at a yarn festival I tried to recreate this with zigzag and vertical lines representing the walkways and stalls along with eyelets being the people weaving in and out and buying the yarn with purpose or impulse, both acceptable in my eyes. This resulted in a beautiful simple lace pattern, matched with twist stitch highlights to give a elegant and beautiful look for those wanting something a little bit special.
